Labour Preparation Massage
Pregnancy is never static; it is constantly changing and developing. Nurturelife® massage techniques focus on these changes and adapt to our clients ever changing needs in the lead up to labour.
Massage for labour explores how best to prepare the body to move through the waves of change in labour. Pressure is applied to specific points on the body to help stimulate the body for the preparation of labour and these points can also be used to give comfort during labour.
Partner Training Session
This Partner Training session has been developed for you and your support person/ partner to guide you through each stage of labour. It aims to educate you and your partner by giving you techniques and knowledge to help you understand the processes of labour. Our focus is to reduce any fears or anxiety allowing your body to produce the right hormones for your labour to progress. Creating the right environment for the labouring women is essential for her to feel safe, secure and nurtured.
Various techniques will guide you into a deep sense of relaxation and during contractions, you will focus on specific holds which are soothing, calming and maintain focus.
Active movement in labour during any stage will produce many benefits and these techniques will be also be explored.
Sessions are tailored to your needs whether you are first time parents or you already have children.
Included in this session is a Birth Kit which includes a CD, massage tool, Labour blend oil, hot/ cold pack and a book “Gentle Birth Gentle Mothering” by Dr. Sarah Buckley.
Post Natal Massage
The early postnatal weeks are the time for you and your body to readjust and recover from the birth and pregnancy.
The joy of adapting to motherhood can also be exhausting as your body undergoes many changes.
Massage is the central focus promoting:
– greater vitality and less fatigue,
– helping to soothe tension and improve sleep,
– regains strength and eases muscle tension,
– relieves the breastfeeding position by relaxing the neck and shoulders,
– Strengthens and tones abdominal muscles.
We love to see new babies in our clinic as they sleep peacefully while Mum gets her massage.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is used for the rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal imbalances, neuromuscular holding patterns (caused by poor postural and work habits), and maintenance of chronic pain.
Common conditions treated with remedial massage include: headaches; occupational overuse syndrome; tendonitis; muscle spasm resulting from disc & joint injuries; and everyday muscle tension. Specific techniques include Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) and advanced stretching.
Remedial massage can assist in ensuring the body is able to function at its optimum level, free of what can be debilitating muscular pain caused by day-to-day activities.

Antenatal Care
Once you are pregnant your own midwife can care and support you through each stage of your pregnancy. Antenatal visits are scheduled throughout your pregnancy to check on the health and well-being of you and your baby. We check your health, listen to the baby’s heart beat and measure growth. These visits can be scheduled at the centre or in your own home.

Postnatal Care
The birth of your baby and going home is a huge transition for you and your family. Your midwife will have the flexibility and time to care for you in your home or at the centre. Your midwife will support you by listening to your needs, encouraging and giving you the confidence to care for yourself and your baby this may include mother and baby checks, support and education.

“We’re here to guide you through your pregnancy”
At the centre we have the time to listen to your needs in our relaxed caring environment. The care provided to you from a midwife that you meet and know throughout your pregnancy gives you that extra piece of mind. Pregnancy care from Pea in a Pod encompasses all of your needs, mind, body and baby.

“We’re here to guide you through your pregnancy”
A woman who receives care from a known midwife has the time and opportunity to build trusting relationships with each other as they meet. Women and families cared for in this continuity of care model are more likely to have a normal birth, have a more positive experience of labour and birth, be satisfied with her maternity care, successfully breastfeed her baby and cost the health system less.
